1 Protecting your personal data

1.1 We are delighted that you are interested in our company and our products and/or services and we would like you to feel safe and secure when visiting our websites, also with regard to the protection of your personal data which we take very seriously. Adherence to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation is a matter of course for us.

1.2 When we collect data, we would like you to know what that data is and how we use it. We have taken technical and organisational measures that ensure that the provisions concerning data protection are complied with, both by us and external service providers.

2 Personal data

2.1 Personal data is information relating to your identity. This includes data such as your name, address, telephone number and email address. When using our website you do not have to disclose personal data. However, there are instances where we need your name and address as well as other information to be able to provide you with the services you have requested.

2.2 This also applies to, for example, the forwarding of information and ordered goods, or the answering of individual queries and registering for events. Where this is necessary, we inform you accordingly. Furthermore we only store and process information which you have supplied voluntarily or data collected automatically when you visit our website (e.g. your IP address, names of the web pages visited, the browser and operating system used, date and time of your visit, the search engines used, the names of downloaded data).

2.3 If you utilise our services, as a rule we only collect data that we need to provide the services. If we ask for additional information, this is voluntary information.

2.4 Personal data is only processed so that we can perform the requested service and safeguard our own legitimate business interests.

3 Intended use of personal data

3.1 Generally we use the personal data provided by you in order to respond to your inquiries, to process your orders or to provide you with access to certain information or offers. In order to look after customer relations, we or a service provider appointed by us may need to use this personal data in order to inform you about product offers that are useful for your business activities, or in order to conduct online surveys to enable us to address the needs and requirements of our customers.

3.2 Obviously we respect the fact that you may not want to let us have your personal data for the purposes of supporting our customer relations (particularly for direct marketing or for market research purposes). We will not sell your personal data to third parties nor will we market it in any other way.

4 Transferring personal data to third parties or state organisations

4.1 We will only collect, process and use the personal data provided by you online for the specified purpose. We will not pass on your personal data to third parties without your express consent.

4.2 The collection of personal data and the transmission of such data to state institutions and authorities that are entitled to receive such information shall only be carried out within the scope of the relevant laws or if we are obliged to collect and transmit such data due to a judicial ruling. Our employees and the service providers appointed by us are obliged not to divulge any personal data in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation.

5 Security

5.1 We have taken technical and organisational security measures in order to protect your personal data from loss, destruction, manipulation and unauthorised access. All our employees and any third parties involved in data processing are bound by the General Date Protection Regulation and other relevant data protection laws and committed to the confidential handling of personal data.

5.2 Our security measures are continuously revised according to technological developments.

6 Change to our data protection regulations

We reserve the right to modify our security and data protection measures should this be required due to technical developments. In this event, we will also adjust our information on data protection accordingly. Please therefore take note of the most current version of our privacy statement.

7 Data collected automatically when you visit our website

When you visit our website the following data are stored for organisational and technical reasons: the names of the web pages visited, the browser and operating system used, the date and time of your visit, the search engines used, the names of downloaded data and your IP address.

8 Use of Google Analytics and Google DoubleClick Cookies

8.1 Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. However, if the IP anonymiser on this website is activated, Google will shorten your IP address beforehand within member states of the European Union or other member states of the European Economic Area.

8.2 Only under exceptional circumstances is the complete IP address transmitted to a Google server in the United States, where it is shortened. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website in order to analyse your use of the website, compile reports on website activities and provide the website operator with additional services connected with website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser within the scope of Google Analytics will not be linked to any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. In addition, you can prevent Google from recording the data generated by the cookie in relation to your use of the site (inc. your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link. The current link is https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

8.3 DoubleClick cookies are used to evaluate usage of our website. Reports about your website activity on our website are also produced to enable us to develop our Internet service in accordance with your needs. DoubleClick cookies contain no personal data. Sometimes the cookie contains an additional anonymous identifier to identify an advertising campaign to which a user has previously been exposed. This does enable conclusions to be drawn about the web behaviour of a particular individual. DoubleClick cookies use a pseudonym identification number for your browser which is used to check which adverts have been displayed and/or opened. This enables Google and its partner sites to display adverts based on your past visits to our website or that of a third party. Google transmits the information generated by the DoubleClick cookies to servers in the United States where it is stored. By using our website, you agree to Google using and processing the above data in the manner described above.

8.4 You can opt out of being tracked by web analytics in the future or disable DoubleClick cookies at any time. You can download and install the add-on for your web browser from the relevant Google website. If you use several devices or browsers, you will have to install the opt-out add-on on for each of your devices and browsers. Opt Out: Google Analytics:.https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

8.5 Please note that Google Analytics has been extended with the code “anonymizeIp” in order to ensure the anonymous recording of your IP address (IP masking) on this page.

9 Using Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is used on our websites. Google Tag Manager is a free solution from Google Inc. that allows companies to manage their website tags via an intuitive interface. Google Tag Manager takes the form of a cookie-less domain that does not record any type of individual-related data. Google Tag Manager takes care of the triggering of other tags, which for their part record data in certain circumstances. But Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If a deactivation has been performed at the domain or cookie level, it remains in effect for all tracking tags, insofar as they are implemented with Google Tag Manager.

10 Using Google Remarketing

Our websites use the remarketing function from Google Inc. (“Google”). This function is used to present visitors to the website with interest-related display ads within the scope of the Google Display Network. The website visitor’s browser stores so-called “cookies” or small text files which are stored on your computer and which allow the visitor to be recognised when they call up websites that belong to the Google Display Network. On these pages the visitor can then be presented with display ads that relate to content which the visitor previously has called up on websites which utilise Google’s remarketing function. According to their own statements, Google does not gather any individual-related data in this operation. However, should you not wish to use Google’s remarketing function, you can completely deactivate it by making the appropriate settings under http://www.google.com/settings/ads

11 Using Google AdWords

11.1 Our web pages use Google conversion tracking. If you are directed to our website by an advert delivered by Google, Google Adwords adds a cookie to your computer. The cookie for conversion tracking is added when a user clicks on an advert delivered by Google. These cookies become invalid after 30 days and cannot be used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages on our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can recognise that the user has clicked on the advert and been directed to this site. Every Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked via the websites of AdWords customers. The information collected with the help of the conversion cookie allows us to prepare conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have chosen conversion tracking. Customers know the total number of users who have clicked on their advertisement and been redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. But they do not receive any information by which users can be personally identified.

11.2 If you wish to stop tracking, you can prevent placement of the tracking cookie – for instance through a browser setting that deactivates the automatic placement of cookies in general, or you can set your browser to block cookies from the domain “googleleadservices.com”.

11.3 Please note that you should not delete the opt-out cookies if you wish to record statistical data. If you delete all the cookies in your browser you will have to reinstall the relevant opt-out cookie.

12 Plugins from YouTube, YouTube videos and channels

12.1 Our website uses plugins from Youtube.de/Youtube.com which – as a subsidiary of Google Inc. – is operated by YouTube, LLC, Cherry Ave., USA (hereinafter designated “YouTube”). The plugins can be identified by a YouTube logo (for example a white “Play” symbol on a red background or the writing “YouTube” in white with “Tube” on a red background). When you visit a web page on our website that contains this kind of plugin, a connection is made to the YouTube servers, which then instructs your web browser to display the plugin on that web page.

12.2 This automatically passes information to the YouTube servers as to which of our web pages you have visited. If you are logged in as a member of YouTube or Google, YouTube links this information to your personal user account for these platforms. When you use these plugins e.g. clicking/play button on a video or sending a comment, this information is linked to, for example, your YouTube user account; you can prevent this by logging out of your account prior to using the plugin. We therefore have no influence on the extent of the data that YouTube collects via this plugin, and have compiled this information to the best of our knowledge. Information on the collection and use of data by the platform and plugins is available at https://www.google.de/intl/en/policies/privacy/

12.3 Various of our websites contain embedded YouTube videos or videos from YouTube channels operated by ourselves. However these only allow connection to YouTube. YouTube is a service provided by Google Inc. To find out more about the purpose and extent of data collection and its use by Google, as well as your rights and the settings available to protect your privacy as a YouTube customer, please refer to YouTube’s data protection information YouTube’s data protection information.

13 Plugins from Facebook, company profiles

13.1 Our website uses plugins from the social network Facebook, 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA. We have also set up various profiles for our company on Facebook. The Facebook plugins can be identified by the Facebook logo (white “f” on a differently coloured background) or the “Like” button (“like” or “thumbs up” symbol) on our page. You can find information about Facebook plugins here.

13.2 When you go to a page on our website, the plugin establishes a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. This gives Facebook the information that you have visited our site with your IP address. If you click on the Facebook “Like” button when you are logged into your Facebook account, you can link our site content with your Facebook profile. This means that Facebook can relate your visit to our website to your user account. Please note that as the operator of the website, we receive no information about the data transmitted nor its use by Facebook. For further information about this, please visit Facebook Data Protection Information.

13.3 If you do not wish Facebook to link your visit to our website with your Facebook account, please log out of your Facebook user account before visiting our website.

14 Plugins from Instagram

14.1 Plugins of the Instagram service are integrated onto our websites. These plugins are provided by Instagram Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA, 94025, USA. If you are logged onto your Instagram account, you can link the contents of our pages to your Instagram profile by clicking the Instagram button. By doing so, Instagram can assign your visit to our pages to your user account. We should like to point out that, as a provider of web pages, we receive no knowledge of the contents of the communicated data or its use by Instagram.

14.2 Further information on this subject can be found in the data protection declaration of Instagram under: https://www.instagram.com/about/legal/privacy/
Now that Instagram belongs to Facebook, please also take note of the advice given under (13.).

15 Cookies

15.1 When you visit a page on our website we may place information in the form of a cookie on your computer. Cookies are small text files sent to your browser by a web server which are then stored on your computer’s hard drive.

15.2 Apart from the Internet Protocol address none of the user’s personal data are stored. This information is used to recognise you when you next visit our website in order to make navigation easier. For instance, cookies allow us to match a web page to your interests or store your password so that you don’t need to enter it every time you visit.

15.3 Of course you can also view our website without cookies. If you do not want us to recognise your computer, you can prevent cookies from being stored on your hard drive by selecting “do not accept cookies” in your browser settings. Please refer to information from your browser provider for further details. However, if you do not accept any cookies this may limit the functionality of our offers.

16 Subscribing to email news

16.1 Promotional information will only be sent to your email address if you have agreed to register for an IEL online account. Of course you can cancel your agreement to the sending of email news at any time, without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs at the basic rates. A link to unsubscribe to the newsletter can be found at the end of every email, or you can send a brief message to the address given below to unsubscribe or amend your data.

16.2 Individual functions of our email news allow us to track automatically by default which content is of particular interest to our customers. We use the results of these pseudonymised evaluations solely for the purposes of improving the services we offer. The results are not assigned to any specific person.

17 Georeferencing with Google Maps

17.1 On our website you can search for a retailer or optician as well as entering the product or brand, the country and town where you live or in which you are interested. After you have entered the search terms, a results list will show the suppliers that match the search criteria specified. The list is not exclusive and contains our own selected suggestions. You can find other suppliers using Internet search engines if required.

17.2 The georeferencing service we supply via Google Maps will ask you for your location. You can approve this question once, always or never. To do so click on your desired choice. If you authorise your current location to be established once or always, we can determine your location. We use your location to optimise our website and products. Your location is not linked to your personal data nor user profile.

18 Offline and online competitions

Where entrants’ personal data is recorded in the context of competitions held by us, this personal data is collected, processed and used exclusively for the purposes of administering the competitions.

19 Online polls, Survey Monkey

19.1 The service provider that we engage stores all of the participants’ answers and anonymous statistics relating, for instance, to response time or equipment. As we carry out our surveys anonymously, we only have access to the participants’ results. Our service provider uses the data collected to convert the results of the survey into an export format and enable us to access them in their processed form. The process by which the results of the survey are gathered and presented to us is purely automatic. The results are not disseminated to any third party, nor are they used or processed by the service provider for any other purpose.

19.2 All surveys carried out by our service provider Survey Monkey are essentially anonymous. No personal information is stored. IP addresses are encrypted (with a one-way function). With anonymous surveys, even by email invitation it is impossible to attribute answers to individual participants. To protect participants in a poll, it is not possible to change the anonymity settings once the poll has been launched. If a poll is launched anonymously it is guaranteed that all survey results remain fully anonymous. We only carry out anonymous surveys.

20 Security

20.1 We have taken technical and organisational security measures in order to protect your personal data from loss, destruction, manipulation and unauthorised access. All our employees and any third parties involved in data processing are bound by the Federal Data Protection Act and other relevant data protection laws and committed to the confidential handling of personal data.

20.2 Our security measures are continuously revised according to technological developments.

21 Change to our data protection regulations

We reserve the right to modify our security and data protection measures should this be required due to technical developments. In this event, we will also adjust our information on data protection accordingly. Please therefore take note of the most current version of our privacy statement.

22 Links

If you use external links provided on our website, this data privacy statement does not extend to these links. Where we do provide links, we ensure at the time of adding the link that there are no violations of applicable legislation on the linked website. However, we have no influence over compliance by other suppliers with data protection and safety regulations. We neither adopt nor endorse external content. Nor does this third party content reflect our opinion or that of the operator of the affected website. We would therefore recommend that you consult the websites of third party suppliers for their data protection information.
