STORM London S564 has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award. We are proud to be announced as one of four finalists in the member choice award, Frame of the Year in the AOP Awards 2018, which is run by the Association of Optometrists (AOP).

The Frame of the Year accolade celebrates a frame that has positively impacted upon wearer or practitioner, either aesthetically, emotionally or financially. It might be broad in appeal, forward-thinking in style or innovative in its material. So here’s everything that you need to know…

These internal components are used as an effective design feature. To echo this innovation we wanted to showcase the internal construction of our eyewear, an emerging trend for 2017. STORM S564 uses crystal acetates encased around a Stainless Steel metal skeleton, which supports the frames super slim profile whilst also creating intrigue.

How does it feel to be shortlisted for this award?

This is the first year that we have entered the AOP awards and to be shortlisted is fantastic news. These days eyewear is more than just a necessity for patients, eyewear is an accessory, eyewear is a statement and eyewear is an extension of our personal style. With this in mind there has never been a greater need for innovation in design. At International Eyewear we recognise the importance of considered product design and have invested in this area by increasing our Product Team from one designer to three. For us to be shortlisted is confirmation that our hard work is paying off.

What would it mean to win?

The optical industry is changing and customer attitudes are changing. Throughout the market challenges and company instability over the last few years, International Eyewear has maintained its market presence and has continued to produce good quality eyewear, something, which we pride ourselves on and which S564 is a prime example of. 2018 is International Eyewear’s 30th birthday, what greater way to celebrate than to win the AOP Frame of the Year Award!

AOP Chief Executive, Henrietta Alderman, said: “The AOP Awards are about recognising those who contribute so much to the public and profession.” Adding, “With this year seeing more unique entries than ever before, our finalists have achieved so much by getting this far.”

The Frame of the Year winner will be chosen by the profession, with AOP members invited to vote via an email link. Voting closes at 2pm, Tuesday 12 December with results being announced at a black tie dinner on Sunday 28 January 2018.
